In the 80’s Steven Spielberg had a science fiction series called Amazing Stories.

It was a science-y fiction fantasy short story show with each episode its own individual story.

Some episodes were scary, some were funny, some were weird and then like all things in the 80s it just stopped.

This episode had me convinced at the age of 5yrs that somewhere out there a real life purple ‘my little pony’ had a doll of me and one day we would be united.

Fast forward to the 10’s and we are bringing everything back 80’s including ‘Amazing Stories” but not to Netflix.

Nope Apple TV is working on a deal to secure the Steven Spielberg series  in a remake to be produced by Spielberg’s production unit.

“We love being at the forefront of Apple’s investment in scripted programming,” NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said in a statement about the show’s planned revival.

Apple have yet to comment on the deal, or clarify how it intends to distribute the series.

Apple has emphasized in the discussions that it wants prestigious programming and to work with A-list actors, producers and writers, according to sources with knowledge of Apple’s plans.

So working with Spielberg to bring back this series would definitely be on the right path.

“They are looking for really high-end premium stuff they feel is creatively in line with the Apple brand,” one source said of Apple’s strategy.

Apple has committed $1 billion USD to its programming push with the remake for Amazing stories will have a $5million per episode budget.

The company already has placed bids on other projects, including for a comedy series about morning television starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
