Netflix added 5.2 million new streaming customers in the second quarter to its binge streaming service, which is more people than those who reside in New Zealand.
The company hasn’t just beat Wall Street forecasts, it’s annihilated them.
Analysts had generously suggested that Netflix could expect subscription uptake of around 631,000 in the US.
Netflix signed up 1.07 million subscribers.
Netflix also added 4.14 million monthly subscribers in non-U.S. markets, far more than the average analyst estimate of 2.59 million.
The news, of course, sent share prices into overdrive jumping up to $16.82 to a total share price of $178.55.
The moral of the story: Don’t you wish you had shares in Netflix.
