Microsoft has joined the search to see whether Russian bought election ads were purchased on its Bing search engine.

And everyone laughed cause who the hell uses bing?

Anyways, a Microsoft representative spoke to reuters about the potential of its platform being targeted by Russian backed disruptors.

“We take reports of misuse of our platform seriously. We are therefore investigating and if inappropriate activity is found, we will take steps to minimize such misuse in the future,” a Microsoft representative said in an email to Reuters.

The fact that  Microsoft have only just started looking into whether its ads or products had been infiltrated is a bit disconcerting.

The reason that its disconcerting is around this time last year in 2016 Microsoft were actually informed by Google that a hacking group linked to the Russian government and US political hacks were exploiting a Windows 10 security flaw.

Adobe who were also involved in the flaw released a patch the day Google went public with details of the attack and flaw, but Microsoft didn’t release a patch until the day of elections citing that it was ‘ totes uncool and Google should wait until we are ready’ that’s not what they said what they actually said was  “Google’s decision to disclose these vulnerabilities before patches are broadly available and tested is disappointing, and puts customers at increased risk,”

Google were all like “whatever bro” as the company gives 7 days for any software company to fix and test the issue before making high risk flaws public.

Google has been quite active in its unearthing of election interference especially since the breach that exposed Hillary Clinton used her personal computer (which apparently is a crime) and implicated Google in its involvement in asking for help to overthrow Syrian president Bashar Assad by tracking and mapping defections in Syria.

But as Windows is the largest Operating System in the world and its lackluster and slow response to helping identify possible election manipulation raises more questions than it does satiate them.
