Whatsapp social media of pedophiles?

British interior minister Amber Rudd said on Tuesday that WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption communication services allowed paedophiles and other criminals to operate beyond the reach of the law.

“We also know that end to end encryption services like WhatsApp, are being used by paedophiles,” Rudd told party activists in the northern English city of Manchester.

“I do not accept it is right that companies should allow them and other criminals to operate beyond the reach of law enforcement,” Rudd said. “We must require the industry to move faster and more aggressively. They have the resources and there must be greater urgency.”

Whats App has over 1 billion people using its service in 180 countries allowing users fast, simple, secure and free calling to phones all over the globe.

This isn’t the first time that Whatsapp has been accused of facilitating pedophiles.

In April a operation by Spanish police resulted in 38 arrests in 18 countries across Latin America and Europe when it was identified last year that dozens of WhatsApp message groups were circulating sexually explicit images of children.

A Vice journalist catfished a pedophile who propositioned her on a Whats App group for anorexia.

WhatsApp is a subsidiary of Facebook, with the company acquiring the messaging service for $4billion cash and $12 billion in Facebook shares in 2014.

Whats App is currently trialing a business platform that will allow  small companies and enterprises a solution for operating at a large scale with a global base of customers, like airlines, e-commerce sites, and banks.

These businesses will be able to use our solutions to provide customers with useful notifications like flight times, delivery confirmations, and other updates.
